2015 Homecoming

Fiddlers HC 2015

DSCN4517The weather was amazing last night for the 2015 Mona Shores Homecoming. After the Homecoming Parade the Fiddlers performed at the Annual Tailgate Party.  Attendees of the tailgate were able to enjoy a very tasty meal provided by Texas Roadhouse where a portion of the proceeds will be going to 1997 graduate Eric Westover who was seriously injured in an accident this summer. Eric was riding his dirt bike at Silver Lake when he collided with a Jeep, breaking all four of his limbs.

If you missed last nights event here is a sample of Molly Malone. Don’t miss the Fiddlers on Nov. 14 at the 14th Annual Fiddle Fest with special guests AnDro.

Renowned Celtic band The Moxie Strings to perform at
Mona Shores Fiddle Festival February 8
Tickets now on sale

MUSKEGON, MI, Jan. 9, 2014 — From their toe tapping melodies to electrifying rhythms, the Celtic band, The Moxie Strings, have amazed crowds the past three years in Muskegon at the Michigan Irish Festival.

Now the band returns to the area on Saturday, Feb. 8 as The Mona Shores Fiddlers (MSF) present their twelfth annual ‘Fiddle Fest’ at 7 p.m in the high school’s performing arts center, 1121 Seminole Road in Muskegon, Michigan.

The Mona Shores Fiddle Festival is an annual event where a guest professional group is invited to perform and work with the students during the day. Last year’s band was the Oat Bran Boys. Proceeds of this concert benefit the MSF’s continuing education of the alternative Irish/Celtic music style.

The evening begins with the Mona Shores middle school fiddles, under the direction of Kelly DeRose, followed by the high school fiddle group, under the direction Samer Jeroudi. After an intermission, The Moxie Strings take center stage with their electric style of Celtic music. The finale features the three groups playing together as a large traditional Irish music session.

The Moxie Strings is the electrifying combination of fiddler Diana Ladio, and cellist, Alison Lynn. Their feel-good melodies and foot-stomping, rock-influenced rhythms put a fresh, enticing spin on Celtic and Americana music. Though rooted in tradition, The Moxie Strings offer listeners the unique opportunity to experience two of the world’s best-known instruments and oldest genres through a young, progressive lens.

Ladio and Lynn join forces with dynamic drummer and world percussionist, Fritz McGirr, to create a high-energy instrumental trio proven to captivate any audience. The Moxie Strings’ ear-catching originals and dance-worthy, traditional tunes have quickly made it one of Michigan’s most promising instrumental acts. Their last performance in Muskegon was at this year’s Michigan Irish Festival.

The Moxie Strings have played at Michigan Irish Music Festival for the last 3 years as this band. The band shared stages with Gaelic Storm, Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas, Natalie MacMaster, and Jeremy Kittel.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students and senior citizens. Advance ticket sales are available at Meyer Music in Muskegon 1664 E Sternberg Rd, Muskegon, MI 49444 – or at the door starting at 5:30 PM.
