It’s time for our annual Un-Fundraiser Donation Drive! Please donate today!
Our goal is to raise $10,000 for the Mona Shores Orchestra Parent Association’s general fund to support our orchestra students. If we reach our goal, no additional fundraisers for the general fund will be held this school year.
No amount is too big or too small. Cash and Check donations are currently being accepted by all orchestra students until Friday, October 13, or make a quick and easy donation ONLINE.
If every orchestra student collects five $10 donations ($50 total)we will meet our goal.
Welcome back to a new school year! I know that our students have been practicing, taking lessons, going to music camps, and more this summer. And I know that our amazing directors, Mrs. DeRose and Mr. Mosley, have been planning and preparing for a new year.
First, I want to thank you for your support of your student musician. It matters a lot! All parents of orchestra students are members of Mona Shores Orchestra Parents Association (MSOPA), and it’s great to be connected through a wonderful music program!
Second, I want to invite you to an Ice Cream Social this Monday, August 28, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. outside the High School orchestra room (or inside if the weather doesn’t cooperate). MSOPA Executive Board members will be present and want to connect with you.
Third, please take time to complete a short volunteer information form for the 2023-2024 school year. Your help is needed to make our orchestra program successful, and there are many ways to serve. Find the link here: MSOPA Volunteer Interest Form.
Finally, here are MSOPA meeting dates for 2023-2024. All parents are welcome to join us, and we’re especially hopeful to add some middle school parents to our group.
Wed., Sept. 20, 2023 – 7 pm, High School Orchestra Room

The MSOPA has commissioned composer and director Sean O’Loughlin to write music for both Middle School and High School ensembles. Students are rehearsing the new works now for the world premiere performances directed by the composer himself on Thursday, February 16, at 7 pm at the High School Performing Arts Center. Free will donations accepted at the door.

The Fiddlers at Sparta Celtic Fest with Liam “the extra large” Leprechaun
This year at the Sparta Celtic we had some true Irish weather with some needed steady rain, unfortunately it came a day too soon, but that did not stop the Fiddlers or the Sparta Celtic Fest. The Fiddlers moved from main stage to the beverage tent so the Fiddlers and the audience could be dry.
It might have been a bit cooler and damp but it was a warm reception from Sparta. Thank you to the Sparta Celtic Fest for the invite once again and look forward to being back next year!
For more pictures and recorded live streams of the Sparta Celtic Fest see the Mona Shores Orchestra Facebook and Instagram pages.
