Fiddlers at the Michigan Irish Music Fest 2016
2016 Mona Shores Fiddlers
The Mona Shores Fiddlers performed their sixth show of the 2016 Summer-Fall Tour this past Sunday, September 18, 2016 at The Michigan Irish Music Fest. It was a picture perfect sunny day with just amazing weather, weekend filled withsome truly talented entertainers and the sounds of great Irish Music.
The Michigan Irish Music Fest really out did themselves with one of the best MIMF ever!! So before going any further on behalf of all The Fiddlers, we would like to Thank the MIMF for once again including the Fiddlers to the Fest. Its an incredible honor to be able to perform along side these gifted musicians, to be able to play for our community, and to be included such an amazing festival. Thank you, thank you, thank you can not be said enough to be apart of MIMF.
The Fiddlers performed a 60 minute set of some of their classic Irish arrangements as well as some new arrangements to a rather large crowd at the Galway Stage. The crowd was made up friends, family, members from other groups performing at MIMF and the MIMF community at large getting comments on Social Media as “Awesome”, “Amazing”,”Talented” and “the Mona Shores Kids Rock!!!!”
The MIMF is one the BIG highlights of the Fiddlers Summer-Tour but they have still have a couple of dates coming up. The Summer-Fall Tour will wrap up on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at The Mona Shores 15th Annual Fiddle Fest with the Mona Shores Middle Fiddles, Mona Shores Fiddlers, and very special guest CrossBow!!! Details, ticket information, to follow, so watch for our posters, the web page, and our social pages.
Thank you again to the Michigan Irish Music Fest and look forward to seeing everyone at our 15th Annual Fiddle Fest!
Here are a few tunes from MIMF2016:
Welcome Back
On behalf of Mrs. DeRose, Mr. Mosley, and the Mona Shores Orchestra Parents Association (MSOPA), Welcome Back!!! The new school year is upon us and under way with some exciting events already planned and being planned for 2016-2017.
First off, the 2016-2017 events have already begun. The Fiddlers
have been rehearsing all summer and had a three day Fiddle Camp. They started their Summer/Fall Concerts tour this summer at the Sparta Celtic Fest, Roosevelt Park Day, and the Annual Muskegon Irish Association Dinner. The Fiddlers next concert is Sunday, Sept. 18th, 10 AM at the Michigan Irish Music Fest.
Thursday, October 27th, will be the 2nd Annual Spooktacular Concert. The orchestras fall concerts tackle Halloween and get a little Spooky Fun. This years concert will include the Ross Park and Churchill Elementary Traveling Choirs.
Saturday, November 15th, at 7 PM is the 15th Annual Fiddle Fest featuring the Fiddlers and the Middle Fiddles with very special guest CrossBow. CrossBow is a high energy group out of GVSU that has been tearing up the celtic festivals.
We will have more details on these events and other events as we get closer to the date. A complete calendar of events is on our event page and details of an event can typically be found on our Facebook Page.
As most of you already know, we are also very happy to announce that Mr. Mosley is the Full Time Middle School’s 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade Orchestra Director. Mrs. DeRose will continue as the High School Director and assist with the 6th Grade at the middle school.
Its looking like an exciting year ahead of us. Check back here, our Facebook Page or Twitter Page for the latest news and events. We will be adding some features to the webpage that I think some of you will really like.
Have a great 2016-2017 School Year!!

All Roads Lead To Rome

Day 1 & 2 of journey to Rome was a long day but fun none the less. We left Mona Shores High School in the morning by charter bus to Chicago’s O’Hare Airport so we could fly to arrive in Rome by 9am to begin a full day of sight seeing. However after several delays with American Airlines we experienced about a 6 hour delay leaving Chicago.
What is an orchestra to do when bored with instruments and a captive audience? Time to pull out the instruments and have some fun:

When we arrived in Rome we did find a welcome suprise, Jan Wemes from Educational Tours/Wens Tours. Many of you may remember Jan, he was our guide 4 years earlier on our trip to Prague, Vienna, and Budapest.
Unfortunately, our flight delay resulted in us arriving late in the afternoon in Rome as the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peters Bisical was closing. We able to get quick visit into St. Peters Square where some sort of religious celebration was in progress. It

was long enough of a visit to get some pictures of the square, Swiss Guards, mail a post card, and get our first gelato outside the Vatican Walls and entrance to St. Peters Square.
We finished our day of travels at the Best Western Blu Hotel where we would stay for the next two nights. We had our first Italian Dinner in the hotel which included a a round of pasta.
Note: Pictures and details of the trip will be posted over the next several days in chronological order of the trip.
More pictures of Day1-2 are on our Flickr Italy Group Page.
Grazie Per Un Grande Momento!

Dear Fellow Italy Trip Travelers,
After a long trek home from Italy it seemed a bit anticlimactic for me to pile out of the bus barely awake as we drove home with our families. Maybe we needed to count one more time or just yell Goodnight or say “See you at breakfast.” As I am trying to get back up to up speed, load pictures, edit pictures, get caught up on sleep, etc. I want to say before too much time as pass Thank You For A Great Time or Grazie Per Un Grande Momento!!!
Thank you to Italy for such great amazing weather, the sites, the history, the shopping, and the food. The Gelato might need its own thank you letter, in fact does anybody know someplace local where I can get my Gelato fix? To Jan Wemes for being our guide again in Europe. Jan’s love and knowledge of his now home country of Italy was apparent as he guided along our tour.
Thank you to all the parents who helped entertain my little ones, help Mrs. De Rose with supporting the orchestra, helping move luggage in line, etc. It was great traveling with you and it was great getting to know you!!
Thank you to the students for rehearsing for over a year, lugging your instruments & uniforms throughout the streets of Italy, and performing for us in some pretty amazing venues. Thank you for entertaining, playing, and making my little ones welcome. They had a blast with you and have not stopped talking about all you!!! Today at preschool Parker was using her “Pause Powers” and telling her classmates about all of you. Carter is now saying “No Way!” whenever we say something silly to him. You are all an amazing a group of kids, error, young adults.
Finally, I want to thank the person who made this happened. Without her this trip would not have happened. So thank you to my friend, my wife, and your teacher Mrs. Kelly De Rose.
Sincerely,
Bob DeRose
PS: In the next few days I plan to get my pictures loaded up on our Flickr Page and share blog posts with details of some of the pictures and videos. I have only had a chance to quickly preview them and I am excited to see them edited and ready for print.
