We are proud to announce the Mona Shores Chamber Orchestra has been selected to play at the National Orchestra Festival in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on March 2-4, 2017. The festival is one of the many events that takes place during the American String Teachers Association’s National Conference.  Fewer than thirty school orchestras from the entire country have been selected to participate this year. Our orchestra is very excited to receive this invitation to perform on a national stage!

This is an incredible opportunity for our orchestra. After the Chamber Orchestra performs, they will receive feedback from the adjudicators and work directly with one of the clinicians in a hour long workshop.  Chamber Orchestra members will also have the opportunity to attend the educational sessions associated with the National Conference.

While the orchestra is hard at work practicing, the Mona Shores Orchestra Parents Association (MSOPA) is also working to raise money to make this trip possible. The total cost of the trip including travel, food, lodging and festival participation is nearly $800 per student. The MSOPA has already committed to cover around 25% of the cost, and is actively pursuing other funding sources and fundraising opportunities.

Fundraising efforts began last week at the Norton Shores Chili’s on Henry Street with a Give Back Event. Thank you to Chili’s for partnering with us.  Domino’s Pizza is helping us with the next two fundraising events.  The MSOPA is hosting All You Can Eat Pizza Dinners before the Middle School Fall Concert on Wednesday, October 26, and the High School Spooktacular Concert on October 27.  Tickets are $6.50 each (4 years and under are free). Pop, Juice Boxes, Water Bottles, Cookies and Brownies will also be sold for $1 each. Reservations are requested but not required.

Make a reservation for the Middle School Concert (10/26) Here.

Make a reservation for the Spooktacular Concert (10/27) Here.

The MSOPA is actively seeking grants, donations, and new fundraising opportunities.  Details are coming soon about a Spaghetti Dinner hosted by the Cherokee Restaurant.   If you or your business would like to make a donation or sponsor a student for the National Orchestra Festival, direct donations can be sent to:

The Fiddlers have up coming performances at the Roosevelt Park Day, Mona Shores District Meeting, The Muskegon Irish American Dinner, The Michigan Music Irish Music Fest, and Fiddle Fest with special guest Crossbow.
