We would like to publicly thank everyone that made the Michigan Irish Music Festival an incredible weekend for the Fiddlers.
Thank you to the Michigan Irish Music Festival for again inviting the
Fiddlers to perform at this incredible event. It’s an honor to be able to play at the same venue with such amazing musicians from around the world right here in Muskegon.
Thank you to parents, families, friends, and Mona Shores Alumni that came out to support the Fiddlers. Playing to a full, friendly house was a blast! All the weekly rehearsals have paid off.
Thank you to the very talented sound crew! It’s alway nice to perform when we have friendly and knowledgeable audio engineers!
Over the weekend we shared many more pictures and videos of the MIMF on our Instagram and Facebook pages – too many to re-post here. We also shared that The Founding (formerly Blarney Castle) will be our special guest at the 16th Annual Fiddle Festival. More Fiddle Fest information coming soon.
If you missed the Fiddlers this past weekend you can catch them this Friday, Sept 22, 2017, at the Mona Shores High School Homecoming Tailgate Party!
2016 Mona Shores Fiddlers
The Mona Shores Fiddlers performed their sixth show of the 2016 Summer-Fall Tour this past Sunday, September 18, 2016 at The Michigan Irish Music Fest. It was a picture perfect sunny day with just amazing weather, weekend filled withsome truly talented entertainers and the sounds of great Irish Music.
The Michigan Irish Music Fest really out did themselves with one of the best MIMF ever!! So before going any further on behalf of all The Fiddlers, we would like to Thank the MIMF for once again including the Fiddlers to the Fest. Its an incredible honor to be able to perform along side these gifted musicians, to be able to play for our community, and to be included such an amazing festival. Thank you, thank you, thank you can not be said enough to be apart of MIMF.
The Fiddlers performed a 60 minute set of some of their classic Irish arrangements as well as some new arrangements to a rather large crowd at the Galway Stage. The crowd was made up friends, family, members from other groups performing at MIMF and the MIMF community at large getting comments on Social Media as “Awesome”, “Amazing”,”Talented” and “the Mona Shores Kids Rock!!!!”
The MIMF is one the BIG highlights of the Fiddlers Summer-Tour but they have still have a couple of dates coming up. The Summer-Fall Tour will wrap up on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at The Mona Shores 15th Annual Fiddle Fest with the Mona Shores Middle Fiddles, Mona Shores Fiddlers, and very special guest CrossBow!!! Here are a few tunes from MIMF2016:
It was a soggy Saturday this past August 27, 2016 but the rain did clear for the parade and the festival. The Fiddlers managed to march in the Roosevelt Park Day parade and perform an amazing set after the parade in the entertainment tent.
This was the third performance of the Fiddlers 2016 Summer/Fall Tour. The Fiddlers have one more performance this week for the Mona Shores faculty at the district wide 2016-2017 School Year Kick Off Meeting. Then its less than three weeks till the Fiddlers take to the Galway Stage at 10 AM on Sunday Funday of the Michigan Irish Music Fest.
For more pics and see replays of Live Video Feeds of the Roosevelt Park Day performance, visit our Facebook page.
Many Thanks to the City of Roosevelt Park for inviting the Fiddlers to perform at the festivities. Its a great honor to be able to play for so many of friends and family in our community.
After a couple of years of invites the Fiddlers finally were able to accept an invitation to perform at the Sparta Celtic Fest last weekend in Sparta, MI. This has not been a easy task to accomplish when you are saying congrats to the outgoing seniors, welcoming the new freshmen, enjoying summer vacations, camps, family weddings, college visits, student jobs, summer fun, etc. The Fiddlers continued to rehearse this summer arranging old material, adding new songs, adding instruments, and attending Fiddle Camp.
The long summer work is paying off as the summer & fall performances tour begins. The Fiddlers have up coming performances at the Roosevelt Park Day, Mona Shores District Meeting, The Muskegon Irish American Dinner, The Michigan Music Irish Music Fest, and Fiddle Fest with special guest Crossbow. Check the schedule our events on Facebook for the latest information.
The Fiddlers sounded great and had a good time at the Sparta Celtic Fest, they are happy they were invited back again at the end of the performance. If you have not been to the Sparta Celtic Fest you are missing out.
More photos are on our Flickr page and a Live Stream of one of the songs is on our Facebook page. See everyone at the parade and on stage for Roosevelt Park Day.
Here are a few pictures of the Fiddlers participating last weekend in a weekend long Fiddle Camp in Mears, MI. They were preparing and working on new material for their 2016 Summer Tour while still finding time for fun on the Sand Dunes, swimming, team building activities, campfires, etc. More pictures can be found on our Flickr page.

The Fiddlers could not have ordered up a better night for the first ever Muskegon Street Performers, sunny in the mid 70’s!! The Fiddlers took control of the SW corner of the Muskegon Farmers Market with some limited dancing from the Country Fresh Dairy Cow, many passerby’s, and large groups in the shade enjoying the show.
The Fiddlers set was bitter sweet, it was the last performance for our graduated seniors. The Fiddlers dusted off some old tunes we had not heard in awhile and some new arrangements to this years set list. You can check out our Facebook page for a couple audio samples of last night set.
If you missed last night Fiddler set you will have a few more opportunities later this summer. The Fiddlers are in transition now as our Class of 2016 leaves and our incoming freshmen join but you will be able to catch them with their new look and sound later this summer at Sparta Irish Fest, Roosevelt Park Days, and Michigan Music Irish Fest.
The Mona Shores High School Fiddlers are taking to the streets of Muskegon as a Street Performer on June 3, 2016, 6pm-8pm. The Fiddlers will be performing in the SW corner of the Muskegon Farmers Market. Bring a lawn chair and grab some dinner as most of the food vendors will be at the Farmers Market as well. Mark your calendars now for some a night of great entertainment.

The 2016 High School Spring Concert and Awards Ceremony was an amazing show. Mrs. DeRose said “The concert is bittersweet. The 8th grade orchestra sounds great, I can’t wait to work with them. The seniors are such amazing group of people I am sad to see them go but excited for them as they leave Mona Shores.”

Mr. Mosley’s Eighth Grade Orchestra open the concert with Richard Meyer’s Geometric Dances.

The Mrs. DeRose’s High School Concert Orchestra took the stage starting the evening musical theme of Tributes. They played Andrew Dabcynski’s arrangement of An Armed Forces Tribute, Jon Williams The Olympic Spirt, and a Beatles Melody.

The Mona Shores Fiddlers played two tunes. One original piece Amran nut de Caerlaverock by our own Greg Beaudoin. This piece was first performed by the Fiddlers at 2016 Collage Concert but tonight we got the touching explanation on how Amran nut de Caerlaverock is a tribute to his family. The Fiddlers finished night with a new version of Jackie Tar.

The Symphonic Orchestra continued the tribute theme with John Phillip Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever and a Tribute To John Williams adapted by Paul Lavender. Tribute To John Williams was accompanied with a video arranged by Mr. Dave Droski and Jacob gravel.

The Combined Orchestras played Franz Hayden’s The Finale from Symphony No 45, arranged by Richard Meyer with the musicians turn off their stand lights when leaving the stage as they played leaving only the Seniors at the end.

The Senior Strings presented some touching gifts to Mrs. DeRose and performed Jupiter From The Planets by Gustav Holst, arr. Deborah Baker Monday.
