2015 Homecoming

Fiddlers HC 2015

DSCN4517The weather was amazing last night for the 2015 Mona Shores Homecoming. After the Homecoming Parade the Fiddlers performed at the Annual Tailgate Party.  Attendees of the tailgate were able to enjoy a very tasty meal provided by Texas Roadhouse where a portion of the proceeds will be going to 1997 graduate Eric Westover who was seriously injured in an accident this summer. Eric was riding his dirt bike at Silver Lake when he collided with a Jeep, breaking all four of his limbs.

If you missed last nights event here is a sample of Molly Malone. Don’t miss the Fiddlers on Nov. 14 at the 14th Annual Fiddle Fest with special guests AnDro.

More photos of the even can viewed on our Flickr page, a link is on our side menu bars.

Michigan Irish Music Festival 2015

DSCN4352

2015 Michigan Irish Music Festival has now come to a close. This weekend the MIMF hosted many bands from Ireland such as The High Kings, We Banjo 3, Slide and to bands from right here here in West Michigan like Moxie Strings, Peat in the Creel, and Crossbow to name a few. The weekend was filled with great music and fun times.

A very BIG Thank You to Michigan Irish Music Festival for inviting the Mona Shores Fiddlers to kick off the last day of the Festival. Its become a tradition the Fiddlers really enjoy. Its wonderful seeing old friends, past MSOPA members, Fiddler/Orchestra alumni and past Mona Shores Fiddle Fest guest bands at the Fiddler Performance.

Here are a few pictures from todays performance. more pictures can be viewed on our Flicker Page, a link is on the side of this page or below for mobil users.

Debut Strings

A message from Gabe Slimko, Vice President Operations & Personnel Manager of West Michigan Symphony / The Block:

I hope you all enjoyed a rejuvenating summer and have that sense of excitement as school starts. We’re also gearing up for our symphony and education season and are anxious to get going.

Our Debut Strings program has a new conductor!!! Angela Corbin has come on board and has already boosted our excitement for the next chapter in the group. If you don’t know Angela, you can read a little about her here http://westmichigansymphony.org/youth-symphony/debut-strings/ We’re very excited to have a former youth symphony member come onboard to help give back.

We’ll be holding auditions on September 14 at The Block in downtown. As a reminder, Debut Strings is intended for students with at least two years experience and strong note reading skills. We don’t attach an age or grade range since students start string instruments at such a wide age range.

Best of luck for a great year!
