Dear Parents and Community,

My name is Kirk McBrayer and I am currently a music education major in my final year of study at Grand Valley State University. During this semester, I will be student teaching at Mona Shores Public Schools under the direction and supervision of Kelly De Rose and Nick Mosley. As a student teacher working in both middle and high school academic settings, I will be striving to improve and build upon my current teaching practices. It is my intention to provide quality teaching that is effective, appropriate, and sufficiently meets the needs of all students. Safety, respect, and inclusivity are essential components of teaching that I value and take seriously. Teaching with these things in mind will ensure a productive and positive experience for students and myself. Continuing to develop the fundamentals of musicianship, displaying professionalism in the classroom, setting and achieving personal musical goals, and understanding the importance as a member of an ensemble are goals that I aim for all students to accomplish. I am grateful for the unique opportunity of being able to teach and receive mentorship in a such a well-respected school district as Mona Shores, and look forward to what lies ahead. I pledge to always give your students my best and am confident we will all have a lot of fun learning together throughout this experience!
